Please join us in welcoming Olivia Cason to Cross & Crown as the web team’s new Content Entry Specialist! Whether she’s diving into office projects, perfecting her pickleball serve, getting lost in a great book, or exploring the outdoors, Olivia brings curiosity, enthusiasm, and a team-oriented spirit to everything she does. We’re excited to have her on the team and can’t wait for everyone to get to know her.
1. Welcome to Cross & Crown, Olivia! Can you tell us a bit about your background?
I’m so excited to be here! I graduated from Shippensburg University in the spring of 2024 with my bachelor’s in communication, journalism, and media and a minor in marketing. During my junior year of college, I started a summer internship with Destination Gettysburg, the premier Destination Marketing Organization for Gettysburg, Pa.—and that is what got me working in the travel and tourism industry!
I started full-time in Gettysburg last year as their Sales Specialist, where I worked with the group and meetings markets to promote bringing larger groups to Gettysburg. This included attending travel tradeshows, hosting bus tour operators in the destination, and creating sample itineraries for groups.
Within six months, I then transitioned over to being their Partnership Specialist, as Destination Gettysburg is a membership-based organization with over 300 local business partners expanding across Adams County and surrounding areas. In this role is where I began working in WordPress with web content entry, planning both training sessions and celebratory events for the organization, as well as assisting with day-to-day recruitment, onboarding, and management of our members.
I have met so many amazing and innovative business owners, and to see the passion they put into their work deserves to be celebrated and elevated. Through my creative work and organizational management, I have been able to do that so far in my career. I know being in this role will be no different, and I’m excited to expand my skills and see what great new clients I will get to work with.
2. Your role as Content Entry Specialist involves a lot of precision and organization—what aspect of the role are you most excited to dive into?
I’m excited to just get drilled into what I’m doing. I thrive when I’m able to get things organized and assembled correctly. As long as I have my to-do list and know what is expected of me, I’m ready to get to work and hopefully can exceed expectations!
3. You’ve applied your creative skills in the travel and tourism industry—what’s one project or campaign you’re especially proud of?
Working in the travel and tourism industry opened the door to fun projects that I’ve gotten to help with over the years. But I am especially proud of the advocacy work I completed early on. I created a ‘Roadmap of Visitor Spending,’ an infographic that displays how money is funneled through the community of Adams County through their travel and tourism efforts. This was not only fun to make but also helped teach the community how much of a positive impact tourism has on their everyday lives.
4. Outside of work, you love being outdoors and playing pickleball—what’s a recent adventure or activity that brought you joy?
My family has a small farm in Bedford County; it’s remote and right in the middle of the woods. It has always been my favorite place to escape to since I was a little kid. I recently took my 4-year-old golden retriever, Finley-Rex, there for the first time. Watching him run around in the fresh air and getting to spend time with family brought me so much joy.
5. What’s one thing on your bucket list that you’re determined to check off soon?
I’d love to see the Painted Hills in Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is such a breathtaking place, and I can’t wait to explore more of it. I want to be able to say I had a picnic in front of the Painted Hills and come back with some cool photos.
6. Imagine a completely different career path—what would you be doing instead?
I’ve always really loved art and painting, so I think in another life I would totally be an art teacher at an elementary school. That, or own a bakery!
7. What’s your go-to comfort food or snack?
Ooo, I have to say my go-to comfort food would be a hoagie, and if you’re familiar with the Chambersburg area, then you know Hamilton Heights Hoagies has the BEST.
8. Is there a book, podcast, or website you turn to when you need inspiration?
Pinterest is my safe space on the internet. I always take a brain break and scroll my home feed when looking for inspiration—it’s a great way to reignite my brain and creative thoughts. Plus there is always a good recipe or outfit to save.
