Ocean Conservation Awareness
Giving Our Oceans
In 2011, founder Linda Cabot and her daughters filmed a documentary — From the Bow Seat — about the environmental issues impacting the Gulf of Maine. Making this film engaged and empowered Linda and her family in a way that articles, textbooks, and lectures alone cannot. This lead to the birth of BowSeat Ocean Awareness Programs.
BowSeat approached Cross & Crown to tell their story through an engaging brand video, bring a professional appeal to their nonprofit brand, and build a powerful user-focused website.
As an award-winning nonprofit organization, BowSeat wanted to share their story and impact in a way that was not only visually appealing, but beautiful and compelling to watch. Our video team crafted a visual storyboard and built a shot list to create their video concept and traveled throughout the northeast to capture all footage and b-roll, while planning all travel logistics.
Giving Credibility to
We learned through our discovery process that a rebrand of the logo would help unify BowSeat’s digital experience and give a more professional look to the overall brand. The Cross & Crown design team created a new logo to help bring both flexibility and credibility to their nonprofit, as well as define BowSeat as a leading player in the ocean conservation movement.
“We are thrilled to work with Cross & Crown as a full-service agency that supports and amplifies our online reach and impact. They understand what it is like to work with a small nonprofit with big ideas! Whether working with their web team or cinematographers, the Cross & Crown team is always interested in our visions and goals, and work closely with us to create an amazing product.

A Platform For
BowSeat tasked Cross & Crown with redesigning an innovative new website to help unify their new brand and allow them to continue to expand their growing annual ocean awareness contest.

A Powerful Gallery
One of the cornerstones of BowSeat’s website is the gallery that features work from youth all over the nation. The gallery needed to load thousands of media items that include art, videos, music, poetry, and prose into sortable, interactive cards. We built functionality which allows a user to filter the gallery based on year, grade level, and category, or to search through keyword entry.
We took the time to make sure each single piece of media was able to be linked directly to or shared via social media.View Gallery
Our collective work for BowSeat expanded their digital footprint and experience, while unifying their brand and telling their story through compelling video.
